Really Happy Birthday
Well, we were a little late with the party but I think in the end it turned out okay. We had it at San Pedro Valley Park, in the North Walnut Grove. We spent the day before cooking (or attempting to) cook a kosher meal and cake and it was a beautiful sunny day. Of course, the day of your birthday our house lay blanketed in a thick fog. Fortunately, San Pedro Valley while overcast was not foggy. It turned out to be just about perfect weather for all the running around that was done. You even asked to take off your long-sleeved shirt and just go with the short (aka squirmy wormy)shirt underneath. I had brought games to play, but it turns it out they were pretty much not needed as as soon as Emily and Kayla, the first kids showed up, you were all off and running. We did have a pinata game, which in retrospect was probably a bad idea, given the ages and that a metal bat was involved. Thankfully though, no one got injured except the pinata and the rubber gloves that you insisted on bringing to the picnic site came in handy (no pun intended) as a way to collect the booty. Also something unplanned but that turned out well, were the rides in the cart that was provided by the park for bringing stuff to the picnic site. The funny thing is that the adults running and pushing the cart, all had the biggest grins on their faces. Emily was nearly always one of the pusher/runners and never tired, although the adults all took turns. We were utterly exhausted come Sunday night, but it was, I think a good, happy kind of exhausted as I think you really did have a happy birthday, what we hoped for.
